My good friend and (Artist-comrade) Mike Derderian contacted me one day asking if I would be interested in doing a new challenging video job. At first, I was a bit scared of the idea: drawing a presentation in a RSAnimate method… I did not do that before, but the excietment I sensed from IKBIS team was relieving and comforting, we instantly jumped to brainstorm ideas, get materials, do drafts and few days later we were ready to roll.

As an avid Online user, I come across all kinds and types of people from all over the wold every day. Many of those who has never heard of my country Jordan. Some of them still think we are a very underdeveloped desert-looking tent-living people. Well, The truth is, yes, we do have our Bedouin population, we also have the desert and the tents in the south. But that does not mean that we are all the same. Jordan is a very diversified country with beautiful landscapes and cities. Historical richness and friendly people.

Here, I will show you few images of what Jordan is like.

I have always known Amman Tech Tuesdays but did not really attend before until today, and today, has been the anniversary edition showcasing many independent projects and start-ups in booths @ Zara Expo.

The buzz was really great… Everybody seemed to be having a really good time.
It is the sort of place that you’d expect to bump into all the cool geeks you know (And have really cool free stuff from the cool booths).

Big shouts to:
proDigi for the awesome booth display, with really funny Social Media Stickers and the chance to play Angry Birds on a big display. Thanks to Moey and Omar.

Petra University, for their interactive desktop project for disabled people, that was amazing!

Mozilla Jordan and Microsoft Jordan, merely for exisiting (and the great FireFox Badges and Kinect Display).

Crazy Piranha, the great animation showcase was stunning.

Hamzet Wasel, the cutest looking booth, very colorful and delicious with all the free goodies to eat, thanks for راس العبد.

TasmeemME, great art display, we love our favorite: وحش الملوخية

Other names to mention:
Aramram
WCG – Jordan
Curl Stone Studios
Wizards Productions

And of course all the other great booths, every little contribution is a step in the way to enrich the local experience and encourage others to come out of their shells and start creating and sharing.

I’m sure I will be back again for more AmmanTT sessions held in PSUT.

Keep up to date with the #AmmanTT on twitter.

Street Drums

In the time when every body is evaporating in the “melting pot” trying to create and brand their own street-pop culture away from their original one; few ones haven’t tried so hard, on the contrary, they took the best of it (Arabic music, that is) and fused it creatively to meet the needs of a hungry audience.

It has been a while since I caught up on reading, I might be always almost engaged with a game, a drawing or a design, at other times checking films, TV shows and music or simply absorbing information online… Still, I am a reader, has been and always will be… (Show off moment: I even won local competitions when I was a kid for reading clubs, ehm ehm! won twice). I’m just a wide-range geek!

Who is Marc Jacobs?

Marc Jacobs

It might be one of two things:
1- You either scratch your head trying to remember where you heard the name “Marc Jacobs” before, and would end up mistaking him for a film star
2- You would close your eyes, take a breath, then release a long sigh “Oh! March Jacobs!” You would moan.

In both cases, you’ve heard the name too many times.

Amman Streets at night…

So as posted before about my new Sony Bloggie, I’m now excited to try all kinds of different things with it, this small project was shot in 30 minutes driving around the streets of Amman then edited to be fast and added one of my favorite songs (Telepopmusik – Breathe).
The choice of the song is metaphorical, as I believe that we – in Amman – need to breathe a little, life is getting its pressure on us, prices are raising everyday a little bit more, no jobs, and certainly the general attitude is becoming more aggressive and disturbingly annoying, so it is a small message for everyone to try to “breathe” whenever they can.

Bad habits

This vlog is about collective responses on a simple question I asked to Teachers and students at SAE Amman on what they think (for them) is a bad habit/manner in our society, I also wanted to get a different perspective on this subject from foreigners working in the country because they can be more sensitive to things that we do not pay attention to (or got used to). This does not reflect the whole society’s opinion, these opinions are individual and belong to their people. I just wish to start a “healthy” debate on bad habits/manners in our society and culture so people can discuss them openly and hopefully start avoiding them by spreading more awareness about them. Thank you.
