I have not really blogged much during this month and I will just blame it on the weather, most definitely, it’s the weather. I guess I’ve been just sitting around dreaming of winter time and hating every minute of this long summer, I do not know if you live in Jordan or not, but you must know that it’s getting hotter and hotter every day! it’s absurd, but enough of the weather…
So October is almost gone, everybody will be partying next weekend for Halloween Day and then changing their clocks to Winter Time (although it is not even Winter, it is too hot, ok, ok, enough about the weather)!
But seriously, physically speaking, I have no energy when it’s this hot, my brain functions only in cold, my body radiates enough heat as it is to be in a hot environment, can not I just go and live in Alaska? What’s there in Alaska besides fishermen and harbors? anything at all?
October’ing…
3 weeks in the new job at the gaming company, let me blog about this more when I am more certain about it, I just do not want to post anything yet, too soon I guess.
October is also witnessing the Jordanian Elections Fever! seriously crazy with all the random signs everywhere in the streets, I do not really vote, never did and never will, I think it’s an eternal mis-trust issue towards politicians especially the Arab ones, but let’s not get there, I might make a dedicated post for the craziness of the signs later on, I just can not wait till this fever is over which will be in November.
On another note, my friend Zeina and I decided to launch an initiative between each other (at first) which we called “BE WHITE”, it’s about being white inside despite all the frustrations and pressure around us: we won’t say bad words, won’t be negative, won’t gossip, won’t shout. Simply put, it’s about being REALLY good to yourself and others, it’s not an easy thing to do, but we are getting somewhere!
Reading List
Been reading comics like crazy, e-comics that is! and for that, I have been obsessed with Marvel comics‘ series: “Civil War” and “House of M“, although they are a bit old but seriously worth the long hours of zooming in and out on ComicRack Software, the story lines, the drawing styles and everything about those two series are just about perfect! If you are into comics generally you would really love Civil War and House of M, but you need to have a good solid background on the Marvel History, I am not being patronizing but you know it is sometimes hard to get the references unless you know the what, how and who of Marvel Universe.
I also finished Lee Child‘s “61 hours”, wow! go get it now! I want to read the whole REACHER SERIES!
TV Geek!
On the same note of mogul Comic names, DC comics and CW TV: Smallville Season 10, a great ride so far, 4 episodes have promised more than they delivered, well, maybe in the last week’s episode “Homecoming” it delivered a bit more than usual Smallville plots, but it is not a real delivery, it is an outlook into the future, which as we Fans of Smallville know, is always up for a crazy change as long as there is a cranky crystal man called Jo-Rel who does not like anything Clark does, like, come on! Jo-Rel, Cut the boy some slack here! he is really trying!
GAMES!
And as for games, I have to say I wholeheartedly enjoyed this indie-Xbox-arcade game: LIMBO, created and developed by a small company Playdead, Limbo is a very dark surreal puzzle game that saves you from being overloaded with silly gaming stories and unnecessary text and prologues, you just wake up as a little kid in a strange world, and if you did not read the game description while downloading then you will not know that he is looking for his sister in this “Limbo” world, the game expands over 14 chapters if I am not mistaken, and the puzzles just get harder and harder each time. It is still on the Xbox Live Game Marketplace download section for 1200 Microsoft Points and it’s worth anything you must pay for this awesome game!
I also got my hands on Spider-man: Scattered dimensions, Naruto Shippuuden: Ninja Storm 2 and Enslaved, I left Spider-man for a little while as it has this weird difficult control scheme but it plays nice, Naruto goes for my friend who is enjoying the game like a little kid, she is a super Naruto fan, I am not, so the game is basically for her, and “Enslaved” is a great game that gets you to think and get frustrated so many times, it has this great stress factor that you’ve been missing for a while.
What I’m looking forward to is the new Assassin’s Creed game “Brotherhood” which is to be released on 16th of November (someone’s birthday!), it’s so awesome I am watching every single video of it.
and for PSP, I have left mine alone for a while, the titles are too expensive so any PSP has to be hacked to play free games anyway, mine is the 3000 which is not hackable yet but checking every now and then for news.
The Big Screen
For films, I have not touched a Hollywood blockbuster for a long while which is great! I also do not go to the movie theater, I truly hate it, it’s a waste of energy and money to go there and listen to people talking and crunching pop corn and slurping Coke all around me! I hate it (period). But I have to admit that I missed the X-men trilogy films so I went back to watching the 3 films, and I enjoyed them again, very much so!
And for my love for everything ALMODOVAR, I have watched “High Heels”, a great great film!
[REC], a horror Spanish film, stress level 300%, it’s good but not great.
Still on my list to watch in October: Boy A, Burnt Money, Live Flesh, Momo, Il Gattopardo (Started but did not finish, too long, damn those Italians!), The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Crash (not the one you know, it’s David Cronenberg’s Crash), Get him to Greek, Grindhouse (2 films) and other films.
I have watched “Strange Days” which is not a new film, but I do not know why I have not watched it before, it’s really good!
“Walk on the wild side” is a hilarious BBC One funny talking animals series! it’s VERY FUNNY! Here is a clip…
For music
I’ve been listening endlessly to FAIRUZ 2010 album “Eh fi Amal”
I have not found much interesting music this month, still listening to: New Order, French Horn Rebellion, YukSek, Darwin Deez, Zero 7, Air and other things.
In other news
I have submitted Mission:Moon Ep. 3 to Samandal but was also curious to make a reboot of it all, it’s just an inner feeling that I’ve been inconsistent with the drawing style in the 3 episodes which can be a stylish thing but maybe I want something else. The Reboot is not a final thing but got me drawing like crazy which I love so much.
I’ve been also busy learning Italian! Si, Si, Italiano! and speaking of which, I recommend this amazing guy’s language learning series, his name is Michel Thomas and he speaks all languages (I guess), I tried Spanish with him before, excellente! he almost has a series for each language. Now, what’s very different about him that you do not need to read or write something down unless you want to, his method is simpler than that, it’s about trial and error, he gets 2 students in each session and starts talking with them about the language and make them guess how to say certain things and from there he corrects them, it is really great if you want to get to learn a language fast! I also watch Italian films and listening to Italian music trying to translate the lyrics with Google to understand the structure of the slang.
I have not really made any Video Blog in October, although I received a tempting invitation from a friend’s website to Vlog with him or be a guest on his website, I do not know! I am just not psyched in for it now, and I think you know why!
Finished re-reading “The Little Prince” one of most favorite books, and will get into the poetry of Sylvia Plath soon.
As you see, I do not like to sit idle and do nothing, it is not me, I love to have something to do, even if it is a simple long walk at the night, there has to be something to be done at all times.
